Moving Beyond the Church

George Barna recently released some statistics which make the point that Christianity is losing it’s appeal in America. What troubles me about these numbers is the fact that Christians in America still hold to our denominational dogma’s as if we have a lock on heaven. Jesus said, “I am the way the Truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Notice it does not say Pentecostal, Baptist, United Methodist, or any thing about denomination. It is only by and through Christ that we can come to the Father. The sooner Christians understand this scripture, the sooner the power of the Holy Spirit can be released upon the Body of Christ. Holding unto denominational dogma’s only keep the church, the Body divided and weak. Sadly, we have fought for so long over salvation in our denominations that people on the outside see church as a place full of chaos, and dysfunctionalism. This is a call to move beyond the church and reclaim God’s love through the Savior,Jesus Christ. Only then will the Church move forward instead of backwards.
